'Help the Gulf People' was the vision of 'Ashiya Austin' who started the Facebook Group
'Connecting People Who Want to Leave the Gulf with People Who Want to Help' on June 25, 2010.
On July 6, 2010 'Help the Gulf People' went public.

It is the vision of Ashiya that those that are able to offer help to people in the Gulf area will reach out through 'Help the Gulf People.' And those whose lives have been turned upside down by the Oil Spill will find a helping hand through the site.

Our mission is to assist those impacted by the aftermath of the Deepwater Horizon oil drilling catastrophe by connecting them with individuals, businesses or charities that are willing and able to help.

Help the Gulf People has assisted 6 families that we know of with transportation out of the gulf area. Those that were assisted wish to remain anonymous.

Those that choose to Offer or Seek help:
1. Do Not give out your Physical Address to anyone until you have spoken with them in person on the phone or have met them and you feel entirely comfortable.
2. Do Not give any Individuals, Businesses or Agencies monies with promises of Relocation or Related Services unless there is a Legal Contract drawn up between all parties involved.
3. Consider a 'Hold Harmless Agreement.'
4. We highly recommend that you conduct a Background Check before entering into any type of arrangement. If you do not have the means for a Background Check "please" ask for Legitimate References and follow through with researching them.
